Veritas Data Research Launches Continuous Fact of Death Monitoring

By Jonathan Conlin — November 19, 2025

New York, November 19, 2025, Veritas Data Research, the leading provider of U.S. mortality data, today announced the launch of Fact of Death Monitor, an enhanced service built upon their best-in-class Fact of Death (FOD) Mortality Index. This update transforms mortality verification from a periodic batch process into a continuous, real-time monitoring solution, significantly accelerating the confirmation of death events.

What’s New: Real-Time Monitoring of Your Cohort

Fact of Death Monitor introduces flexible verification of death of the people in your cohort of interest. Any matches of your person roster to our continuously updated mortality index will trigger an email notification, with results available typically within 24 hours of Veritas’s collection of the death notice (with up to 90% of deaths collected within two weeks of death).

This new solution provides immediate, measurable impact on:

  • Rapid Signals of death for Clinical Studies: Quickly flag deceased patients in your registry and clinical trials for investigation and inclusion in mortality endpoints
  • Improved health system economics: Immediately free up appointments held for deceased individuals, cease filling prescriptions, and stop expensive outreach efforts
  • Fraud prevention: Quickly flag new credit applications and charges for deceased individuals to limit fraud and identity theft
  • Faster benefit and insurance claims management: Avoid costly interest or payment recoupment processes by quickly starting insurance payment processes or stopping benefit payments to deceased individuals
  • Thoughtful and efficient marketing: Rapidly remove deceased individuals from your marketing databases to reduce costs and complaints, or trigger new marketing based on this life event (e.g., grief counseling, estate planning, charitable donations, etc.)

Enhanced Flexibility and Control of your Monitored Population

Fact of Death Monitoring brings the following key features to provide you with accurate, flexible, and precise information related to your monitored cohort:

  • On-Demand Cohort Management: Customers can now refresh their entire Monitor cohort on demand, or incrementally add or remove individuals, ensuring the list of individuals to monitor is always up-to-date
  • Self-Service Web Tools: The Veritas Portal allows direct cohort uploads, which enables customers to view detailed reports and comparison metrics for all runs via dedicated dashboards
  • Flexible Data Exchange Options: We support Databricks Delta Share as the preferred method for fully automated, bi-directional data exchange. In addition, data can be exchanged via API, secure file transfer via the Veritas Portal, AWS S3, Azure, Snowflake, and GCP data exchanges
  • Robust and Transparent Matching: Utilizing our existing flexible, precise, and transparent Verify matching algorithm. Verified results are provided with attributes from the Fact of Mortality Index alongside matching levels detailing how the matching was performed.
  • Tailored Output: Results are delivered in an analysis ready format, designed to integrate seamlessly with downstream systems.
